About Us

Shibumi Native Wings Sanctuary was, and is, a labor of love. The breadth and expanse amazes us every day and warms our hearts. This vision came from the passing of a loved one, we thought what an amazing location to commune with a loved one who has passed and to calm the soul with its peaceful and tranquil energy.

This idea is not confirmed for that use. A meeting place to share creative ideas, a meeting ground for family members coming from out of town to be in one place. Graduations, funerals, photos, birthday celebrations, parties, reunions or weddings.

We Believe

The main house and the carriage house have four bedrooms, 2 kitchens and 4 bathrooms; a fully stocked kitchen with dishes, silverware and many cooking accouterments you might need. Finally, the dining and lounging areas are eclectic, comfortable and beautiful.

Shibumi in Japanese
means effortless perfection

A state of being in a most refined way; it's understanding instead of knowledge, and harmony and perfect balance. In summer, the driveway is lined with lilacs; the fragrance is overwhelming. In the evening, moonplants (datura) dot the front landscape. A 200-year-old cottonwood stands guard over the property; I have talked to it many times and told it of its regal elegance. Finally, sitting on the front porch is so peaceful and calming; the passing of people walking their dogs and waving reminds me of the old days when people waved with a smile of contentment and kindness. That is the Shibumi Native Wings Sanctuary, a central location to visit all parts of the city.

Shibumi is a state of being in a most refined way. It’s understanding instead of knowledge. It’s found, not won. It’s harmony, perfect balance, inner peace, natural wisdom, abstracted from everything artificial. Shibumi has to do with great refinement underlying commonplace appearances.
